Mark: Newly Qualified Teacher
Mark joined the CIEA as a student. He currently enjoys all the benefits at a reduced membership subscription. He would like to take some CIEA assessment modules but is as yet unsure what he should do.
Involvement in assessment
Mark is currently coming to terms with the departmental assessment policy and procedures. These have been explained to him by his mentor. He follows these procedures and reports any issues he has to the rest of his team. If there are matters that he does not understand, he will alert his head of department and ask for clarification.
Mark will take part in standardisation meetings and moderation meetings, with particular emphasis on AfL strategies.
Mark currently assesses internally only. He will be given tasks and assessments to conduct but will not set his own written tasks yet. He is encouraged to develop his questioning techniques and to determine the effect these have on the learners. He is encouraged to make notes about all of his learners and how well they are progressing towards their goals. He feeds back to learners and to their parents/carers. He is encouraged to record data in an appropriate way and to share this with other team members to look at individuals' progress as well as the progress of the cohorts that he teaches within.
