Sarah: First Year Teacher
Sarah is a first year teacher working towards meeting core standards as a new teacher. She joined the CIEA as a student and having been practising assessment for a year now, she has applied for Associate status (ACIEA).
Involvement in assessment
Sarah has come to grips with the departmental assessment policy and its procedures. She has been able to set her own agenda for improving her assessment skills and has embarked upon a course which looks at the principles of assessment. She has set individual learning goals for all her learners and agreed with them what success will look like. She uses the information about each learner that her head of department passed to her.
Sarah marks her learners' work in line with departmental policy and practices. She submits work to be moderated and acts upon any feedback that she is given. She works closely with her line manager and the information she receives from the SENCO regarding the performance of individual learners and any extra support they may need. She writes formal reports for her learners and submits data to her line manager in a format agreed by the department.
