CPD using the CIEAs Assessment Skills Gap Analysis (ASGA) tool

Have you reviewed your own assessment knowledge using the CIEAs ASGA tool?

The CIEA has developed an online tool that can enable you to identify your assessment-related strengths and areas for development.

The tool will ask you a series of questions (relating to key assessment processes contained within the CIEA Professional Framework) and in return will map your competence on an easy-to-analyse graph.

Click here to access the tool

You will then need to select your level of membership and your role from the drop down boxes and then click 'proceed'. You are then presented with a page that describes the tool. Once you are ready, click next to begin.

New research supports the need for further assessment-specific training!

Research conducted by the CIEA supported the need for further assessment-specific training for teachers. The study, which surveyed 328 15 - 19 year olds, also supported the role of a Chartered Educational Assessor (CEA) in raising standards and students' confidence in assessment.

Boost your career in assessment with a Master's qualification.

In response to the need to strengthen the quality of internal assessment practice in schools, colleges and universities, the CIEA has been working with a network of leading universities to develop a Master's level qualification in educational assessment.

In September 2008, Bath Spa became the first university to offer the qualification. Over the next two years we will also be launching the Master's qualification in partnership with the following universities:

Durham University (October 2009)
Swansea Metropolitan University (September 2010)
The University of Leeds (September 2010)
The Institute of Education, London (September 2010)
The University of Warwick (January 2010)
Queens University Belfast (September 2011).

These qualifications count as part exemption towards CIEA's Chartered Educational Assessor in recognising your skills at the peak of professional assessment practice.
