Institute News - Member and Fellow grades now open to senior examiners The IEA is pleased to announce the launch of Member and Fellow grades to the external assessment community (e.g. senior examiners or moderators working for awarding bodies). Internal assessors (e.g. individuals carrying out senior assessment roles within schools/colleges) will be invited to apply for these senior grades when the formative version of the IEA Professional Framework is launched later in the summer. If you take part in both internal and external assessment we recommend that you apply to upgrade using your external role as the indicator. E.g. A teacher who is also a Principal Examiner will apply for Fellow status now. If you are an external assessor and you wish to apply to upgrade to Member or Fellow status please visit the Membership Upgrade Information page located with the Member area on the IEA website Read more ... Please note, to gain access to the upgrade facility you must have activated your online profile, if you have not done so, please follow this link Read more ... Please note that upgrades are currently only available via the submission of a hardcopy membership upgrade form (plus associated supporting documents). An online application form will go live later in June. If you have any membership upgrade queries please email info@ioea.org.uk
Institute News - New CPD Area Launched on IEA Website The IEA is pleased to announce the launch of a dedicated CPD section that focuses initially on Vocational Assessor CPD that complements the IEA Professional Framework. This new tool enables members to establish their assessment and personal professional development needs and then address them by accessing the compendium (located in the CPD section of the IEA website). The compendium addresses all of the main vocational assessment functions by offering practical advice gained from senior vocational assessors. It also outlines useful member resources (available via the Member area on the IEA website) and suggests third party resources that can contribute towards addressing personal assessment-related continuing professional needs. The compendium not only offers practical help and advice, but also enables members to share advice/good practice, recommend resources (e.g. websites), and give recommendations for future IEA resources. IEA Membership Manager, Richard Gott, commented: 'The Vocational Assessors' compendium is an extremely powerful tool that enables specific continuing professional development (CPD) requirements to be established. It offers tailor-made solutions in the form of practical help, advice and resource recommendations. We created it specifically for vocational assessors and we hope that members contribute towards its development.' The IEA would like to thank the Vocational Assessor Focus Group (comprised of senior vocational assessor members) for contributing to thecompendium, Paula Goddard for editing the content, and IEA Campaigns Manager, Graham Herbert for project managing the online content version. The IEA plans to launch formative, summative and vocational versions of this compendium later in the year.
