10 Steps to Professional Recognition

  1. Ensure you are registered with the GTCE, are a current CIEA member and have qualified teacher status.
  2. Enrol online with the TLA at http://www.gtce.org.uk/tla/sign_up/. Please ensure that you choose the 'Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors' partner option in Section 1
  3. Familiarise yourself with the appropriate level TLA framework and the TLA verification criteria for the stage you are applying (see stage booklets and resources).
  4. Make sure your Head teacher and other relevant colleagues are aware of your intention to seek professional recognition.
  5. Prepare and plan a focus for your professional learning - a pre-populated outline is provided below
  6. At stage 2 and 3 a written account of your Learning Breakthrough) is required. (Refer to the criteria for guidance)
  7. When you complete your presentation refer back to the criteria about the stage you are applying for and, if necessary, add additional commentary to address any gaps.
    Ensure that the necessary documentation is signed by yourself and your professional coach/mentor.
  8. Submit your presentation to the TLA for verification to the GTC at Whittington House, 19-130 Alfred Place, London, WC1E 7EA or electronically to tla@gtce.org.uk
  9. The TLA will process the verified presentation and send a certificate confirming recognition.
