CIEA response to new examinations inquiry

The Director of the CIEA, Graham Herbert, said:

 

"This underlines again how important it is that the examinations process - from setting the papers, through training of examiners and provision of information to teachers, to the final marking and grading process - must be faultless if we are to be fair to the young people taking the examinations.

"Teachers and students must be able to have confidence that exams are being marked by qualified professionals who have been trained.  This training must be provided independently of the awarding organisations and should emphasise that the whole process of examining must be carried out with the utmost professional integrity."
