CPD news
The CIEA is asking for your views on our new CPD scheme, designed specifically for assessment professionals.
The scheme will enable you to develop your knowledge and improve your assessment skills within a structured system, personalised to your own learning needs.
Based on a 'plan, do, review and link' approach, the scheme will allow you to:
- Compile a professional (and personal) development plan
- Establish your own strengths
- Identify areas for development
- Access appropriate CIEA tools and resources
- Reflect on your current work and plan future CPD
- Link you new learning with your existing skills and capabilities

Membership Manager, Richard Gott, commented: 'The scheme is a massive step forward for both for the Institute and the membership. We can now offer members the opportunity to understand their professional and personal strengths and identify and address areas of professional and personal development'. Many Institutes focus on input-based measurement in terms of how many hours or points people are spending on any given activity, However, we took the decision that the scheme should focus on competence or an outcome related basis that allows our members to make a real improvement to their own assessment practice.'
Consultation - Have your say!
You are invited to either 'test drive' or simply review and feedback on our new scheme.
Members wishing to 'test drive' - You are asked to read the CPD Guide, follow the four-step plan and then complete our short online questionnaire at the end of the cycle (after step 4).
Members wishing to review and feedback on the CPD Guide and structured programme - Read the CPD Guide and complete our short online questionnaire.
After a period of six months the programme will be reviewed and all feedback will be considered. If you wish to discuss the scheme with Membership Manager, Richard Gott, please contact him direct at richardgott@ciea.org.uk
