Do you have the skills, knowledge and expertise?
The key stage 1, 2 & 3 national curriculum tests follow a rigorous test development process. Reaching over 1.2 million pupils every year, it is essential the tests are top quality, fit for purpose assessment materials.
To ensure we are developing the highest quality assessment materials, we would like to invite you to become part of our pool of national expertise, so that we can call upon your skills in the future. We are seeking expert contributions in the following areas:
Creating test questions
Have you got experience in producing assessment materials e.g. test questions, writing prompts, reading stimulus materials? Are you creative? Are you a specialist in English, maths or science and familiar with the style of test questions and mark schemes?
Proof-reading
Have you got editing/proof-reading experience? The national curriculum tests are thoroughly checked throughout the development process and have to be completely error free.
Test development feedback groups
Would you be interested in reviewing and feeding back on the test materials during the development process? Discussing, commenting and advising on the evolving questions and items? We need practising teachers and other educational experts to join our test development review groups and teacher panels. We are also interested in teachers with EAL and SEN teaching experience.
Pre-testing
Would your school be interested in participating in the pre-testing activities? Every year we trial test materials with thousands of pupils to assess their suitability. As well as giving pupils the opportunity to practise tests, schools generally find it a useful experience.
Pre-testing administration
Pre-test administrators are responsible for administering the pre-tests in selected schools. They are responsible for keeping the materials secure at all times and ensuring that the process is managed effectively. If you would like to be involved in the pre-test administration, you can register your details here.
If you know that any of the areas of work listed above would appeal to colleagues or friends, please make them aware of the database.
It is vital that we fully utilise the skills, knowledge and expertise of as many educational experts and practitioners as possible. Have your say - get involved.
