The CIEA has developed strong links with the South African assessment community. This is an exciting development and underlines the international dimensions of the CIEA.

Working with Service Sector Education and Training Authority (Service SETA) in South Africa, the CIEA will offer training and qualifications to South African assessors. During a whirlwind tour of the country, the CIEA met over 2,500 assessors in South Africa at five different venues:

  • Durban
  • Port Elizabeth
  • East London
  • Cape Town
  • Gauteng, Johannesburg

Delegates were delighted to be able to be part of this development as it gives them access to readily available qualifications in educational assessment, such as the individual units of educational assessment, the CEA programme and the Masters' Degrees programmes which offer internationally recognised qualifications and accreditation.

A spokesperson for the CIEA, Graham Herbert said, "We were met with interest and treated to warm hospitality from everyone that we came across. We were surprised by the levels of interest in the CIEA and the thirst for access to the accreditation and qualifications that we offer. We expect over three thousand assessors to join the CIEA from south Africa over the coming year."
