Ofqual publish report on the perception of reliability in examinations, tests and assessments

CIEA

"The CIEA welcomes Ofqual's research into the reliability of public examinations and we are encouraged by the fact that students want to see more professional examiners"

"We aim to improve and professionalise the assessment community by providing qualifications such as the Chartered Educational Assessor and supporting the development of the Master's degree in Educational Assessment. Both of these developments will help increase the understanding and skills of all those who assess, for the benefit of learners."

Support for professionalising and developing the skills of those involved in educational assessment was also a key recommendation from the Expert Panel on Assessment. Their report, published last week, recommended that schools have access to an assessment expert with a view to all schools having access to a CEA, that teachers had sufficient support to improve their assessment capacity and that schools should work towards a mark of excellence in assessment. These recommendations aim to improve public confidence in assessment.
