CEA Training and Assessment - London 21st and 22nd July
On July 21st and 22nd a training and assessment event took place at the Cumberland Hotel, Great Cumberland Place, London. There were fifteen delegates from Britain and South Africa, who hope to be added to the growing number of qualified CEAs in line with the government's aim of giving every school access to a CEA by 2020.
The two days involved a formal input about each element of the CIEA Professional Framework: preparing, conducting and feeding back, along with information relating to personal and inter-personal skills. Following the formal input and discussion, each delegate is set a task which must be completed within a given time limit.
The two days are a strenuous mixture of training and assessment. Nevertheless, the delegates thoroughly enjoy the experience, particularly the interaction with people from different backgrounds. It was also an opportunity to look at a very different approach to assessment that applies in South Africa and to note that although the content of assessment and its context may change, the process never does.
