Gained Qualified Teacher Status and interested in assessment-related CPD?
Start your teaching career with a recognised Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme
The Institute of Educational Assessors (IEA) and the General Teaching Council (GTC) are pleased to announce the launch of a pilot project that will enable IEA members, who have recently gained Qualified Teacher Status, to gain Teacher Learning Academy (TLA) Stage 1 professional recognition.
Why should I register an interest?
As well as ensuring your skills are maintained at the highest level by undertaking formalised CPD, this structured system of development allows you to continue to benefit from the experience and knowledge of senior professionals in your centre of learning who will coach you to ensure your learning is optimised to enable you continue to develop your teaching and assessment skills. Additionally, the TLA is the first national system that both recognises and celebrates the learning that takes place every day in the professional lives of teachers.
By participating in the TLA pilot you will demonstrate your commitment to improving and evaluating your teaching. On successfully completing the pilot you will gain TLA Stage 1 professional recognition. Throughout the pilot you will be supported by a tailor-made learning process, which will focus on your assessment role and its development. In the long term your commitment to ongoing CPD and your TLA achievements will enhance your CV.
What will I be expected to do?
You will be asked to submit an assessment-related presentation that will be assessed against set criteria. A stage 1 presentation is no more than 1500 words, which you will complete through keeping a learning journal of your own practice over a short period of time, i.e. no more than half a term.
Will support be given?
There will be a support and coaching event in London on 1st November. Alternatively you can receive support via virtual email/telephone coaching sessions.
When is the completion date?
The submission deadline will be 22nd February 2008.
How much will it cost?
There will be no cost for enrolling with either the IEA or the TLA and all participants are being offered travel expenses and a day's supply cover.
