Applying to become an assessor

To become an examiner, moderator or marker, simply visit http://www.examinerrecruitment.org to apply online.

Apply
There is now a single point www.examinerrecruitment.org where you can apply to become an examiner or moderator for general qualifications in England and Wales with AQA, Edexcel, OCR and WJEC. In addition, those wishing to become a national curriculum test marker can also apply online.

You are required to provide information about yourself, your experience and the level and subject you wish to be involved with.

Alternatively, you can obtain a copy of the application form by writing to the National Assessment Agency, 29 Bolton Street, London, W1J 8BT.

What happens next?
Your chosen awarding body will process your application, checking you have the appropriate skills and experience. They will normally contact you within four weeks of receiving your references.

If your application has been successful, and you have been appointed to a marking panel, you will receive a formal invitation.

Upon accepting this invitation you will receive an information pack to help you prepare. Then, a few weeks prior to the exam period, you will receive detailed instructions together with the date of your standardisation meeting and other relevant dates.

What about more senior positions?
If you are already an experienced assessor you may be eligible to progress your career in assessment if a vacancy arises in your awarding body. Vacancies are often advertised in the national media.
